In 1957 at the age of two, Paul moved to Purley with his parents and three siblings. His father, a keen developer, built many homes including their own residence in the area over the many decades which sparked Paul's keen interest in property.
In his early twenties after having purchased his first home in 1977 Paul decided it was time to sell, however as opposed to hiring a property conveyancer Paul went it alone, utilising the skills and knowledge he amassed through his father, carrying out all of the conveyancing and legal work himself, this gave Paul his first taste of selling property, subsequently he has never looked back since.
In the years following, Paul met a local estate agent named Joanne who later became his wife and partner at Shinerocks.
Together, Joanne, Paul and the excellent team, offer a wealth of experience and local knowledge of the property market, providing an unrivaled, personalised estate agency service.
Jo started her career in property by chance. Working on a temporary contract for an estate agent in the surveying department, where she was quickly offered a full time position.
Having bought and sold many properties herself, Jo built a clear and veracious understanding of the issues involved in the buying and selling process, not just from the actions involved but the complexities on a personal level.
By 1995, Paul and Jo opened ShineRocks, at a time when most estate agents were corporate entities, offering a standardised service with an emphasis on meeting targets. Paul and Jo wanted to offer their clients a personalised service with open, transparent advice based on years of experience in Purley and the surrounding areas.
Since its foundation, Shinerocks have continued to push their ethos, providing a service unlike any other.
Claire originally trained in Hotel Management and had a long successful career in London with Intercontinental Hotels.
Having had two children, Claire looked for a complete change in her career. A daughter of an Architect, Claire had a passion for Architecture and Interior Design from a very young age. Estate agency was therefore an obvious career path for her to take, combining her passion with her transferable skills, and this was reflected in her first estate agency interview where she was offered a position on the spot.
Claire has enjoyed working at Shinerocks over many years and in various roles. In 2021 she was promoted to her current position of Operations Manager, assisting the Directors and the sales team in all aspects of sales and the day to day running of the business.
