Show a tidy garden
Make sure the front of your house is tidy. Don't leave old sofas, boxes or dismantled cars on the pavement or in the driveway. Clutter kills kerb appeal. If you have wheelie bins at the front of your house, put them out of view so that they do not make the house look unattractive.
Repair any obvious flaws
If the wall needs painting or a broken window needs fixing, fix it. Don't leave a gate hanging off a hinge - fix the hinge. Better to pay a small price for a new hinge than to pay the higher price of buyers refusing to ask for a viewing.
