For critical house moves and for empty properties, transactions may go ahead as planned. For occupied properties, the government are recommending setting a date for when the stay-at-home measures are no longer in place. Whether you have already found a property you would like to buy, or have other reasons for wanting to move promptly, some sellers are eager to find a buyer and are offering ‘virtual tours’ of their homes. In this, the seller uses their mobile phone to video-call the prospective buyer and show them around the property.
We know that nothing beats the skill and experience of a professional estate agent. However, this approach can help you to stoke the interest of a prospective buyer. Even though the buyer may want to view the property in person before committing to the sale, this can allow you both to prepare, and to be in a state of readiness for when the lockdown is lifted.

The government has not yet revealed when the social isolation measures will be lifted, however it’s worthwhile remembering that the UK real estate industry contributes 7% of GDP to the economy (source). This is an important part of the UK, and therefore something the government will want to get moving again as soon as possible.
There is no right or wrong time to sell your property. Most people only move homes a few times in their lifetime, and there are a multitude of different reasons why they choose to do so. If this is your time, then it is your time.
