When it comes to attracting buyers and selling your property as quickly as possible, staging your home can really pay off, making sure potential buyers see it in the best possible light.

Whether you bring in the professionals or do it yourself,  home staging can even help to sell your property at a higher price!

So, what is home staging?

Home staging involves improving the aesthetic appeal of your home, so each room looks its very best when you put it on the market. A home that is staged is more likely to appeal to potential buyers, creating a space that they can imagine themselves living in.

From changing your décor to more neutral tones and repainting walls through to improving lighting, replacing flooring, setting the table, and adding accessories and finishing touches,  there are lots of ways to stage your home so that your property appeals to as many buyers as possible.

Can home staging help to sell a property?

Yes! Home staging has been proven to boost the sales of properties, with many homes selling at a higher price point! In fact, an article in Forbes stated that: “23% of agents said that home staging led to increased offers between 1% and 5% compared to similar homes that weren't staged.”

Home staging tends to attract a lot more interest from potential buyers, who often end up bidding against each other for the property that they are interested in. And, if you’re trying to sell your home in a slow market home staging can really help to boost viewings and generate more interest in your property.

How can you stage your home?

 There are a whole host of quick and easy ways that you can get your home in shape ready for sale, including:

Staging your Kitchen

  • Replace cupboard handles
  • Paint walls a pale, neutral tone
  • De-clutter and leave clear workbenches
  • Remove fridge magnets and any other personal touches

 Staging your bathroom

  • Update the bathroom taps
  • Re-grout the tiles
  • Clean up the grouting
  • Put away all of your lotions and potions
  • Buy new matching towels

Staging your living room

  • Use mirrors to open up spaces and reflect light
  • Store items such as dog beds and children’s toys in the garage, shed, or, temporarily, even in your car
  • Invest in new lighting
  • Give the walls a fresh lick of paint
  • Deep clean the carpets and upholstery
  • Show as much floor space as possible

Staging your garden

  • Cut back and tidy the garden
  • Remove any unsightly weeds
  • Remove any garden waste
  • Ensure the wheelie bin is out of sight

  • Clean windows
  • Open your windows and let in the fresh air
  • Switch on lights
  • Keep the home at a comfortable temperature
  • Make all beds with neutral fresh matching linen

  • Make sure your home smells good
